Neurological conditions can affect pets of all ages and breeds. Some of the most common issues we diagnose and treat include:
Seizures – Uncontrolled electrical activity in the brain, can lead to seizures. Epilepsy is one of the most common chronic neurological conditions in pets.
Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) – A spinal condition that can cause pain, weakness, or paralysis, especially in breeds like Dachshunds and French Bulldogs.
Vestibular Disease (Vertigo) – A disorder affecting balance, leading to head tilting, dizziness, and incoordination.
Brain & Spinal Cord Tumors – Tumors affecting the nervous system can impact mobility, cognition, and overall health.
Encephalitis &/or Meningitis – Inflammatory conditions that can result from infections or immune-mediated diseases.
Disorders of the Nerve, Muscle, or Neuromuscular junction – Conditions like myasthenia gravis, neuropathy, and polymyopathy can cause weakness and difficulty moving.
If your pet is experiencing any of the following clinical signs or symptoms, immediate veterinary care may be needed:
Seizures or Collapsing
Difficulty walking, dragging limbs, or sudden paralysis
Head tilting, circling, or loss of balance
Sudden blindness or abnormal eye movement
Neck or back pain, reluctance to jump or move
Weakness or loss of coordination
Muscle tremors or unusual twitching
